The Ashfield LGA is divided into four wards;

• East Ward
• North Ward
• North East Ward, and
• South Ward

For the purposes of Ashfield Business the local government area (LGA) of Ashfield has been divided up into precincts based on economic activity centres, resulting in four precincts; Haberfield, Ashfield, Summer Hill and Croydon/Croydon Park

Within the Ashfield LGA, Ashfield Business also recognises the local terms used for busy commercial areas such as;

• In Ashfield - Ashfield Mall, Liverpool Road, Hercules Street and Parramatta Road
• In Haberfield - Ramsay Street and Dalhousie Street
• In Summer Hill - Lackey Street, Smith Street and Hardie Avenue, also collectively known as the Village
• In Croydon - Georges River Road and Edwin Street
